What You Learn in ROI Boot Camp

ROI Process Overview

Learn the fundamentals of the ROI Methodology, the internationally recognized standard for measuring impact and return on investment, as highlighted by ISO/TS 30347:2023. During this session, you will learn the five critical components that make the ROI Methodology work. Upon completion you will be able to:

  • Describe the five components of the evaluation puzzle.
  • Identify the five levels of the ROI Methodology.
  • Determine which programs are candidates for evaluation up to ROI.

Collecting Data

There is no one best way to collect data. The right data collection approach depends on a variety of factors. Learn what factors to consider when selecting data collection methods. Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • Identify five ways to collect data.
  • Determine the best data collection method given your specific project.
  • Select the most credible source of data for your project.
  • Determine the best timing for data collection given the project at hand.

Isolate Program Effects

Do your stakeholders ask, “How do you know it was your program that caused the results?” Demonstrating the link between a program and improvement in key business measures is a must, if you want your study to be credible. Upon completion of the session, you will be able to describe how to isolate the effects of your programs using:

  • Control groups.
  • Trend line analysis.
  • Estimations.

Calculate ROI

To get to ROI, you must get to the money. Learn a variety of techniques you can use to convert business measures to money, such as a four-part test to help determine when to report the improvement in a measure as an intangible. Upon completion of the session, you will be able to:

  • Identify techniques to determine the value of a measure.
  • Follow five steps to convert a measure to annualized monetary benefits.
  • Apply the four-part quiz to determine when to report benefits as intangible.
  • Calculate the ROI.
